Knitting for a Wedding

We are exactly one month post-wedding so to celebrate here is a blog post of a few of the details (hopefully more to follow).

One would assume that there wouldn’t be a whole lot of knitting where weddings are concerned. Well you know what happens when you assume….

Ring Bearer’s Pillow

I know what you’re thinking didn’t you make a Ring Bearer’s Box, yes I did. But then I found this really easy/cute pattern in an old knitting magazine and couldn’t resist knitting it. Another reason I chose to knit this over using the box is that I hope that this pieces becomes a sort of heirloom and gets used in more weddings than just ours!

Pattern: Ring Bearer Pillow Your Knitting Life June 2012

Yarn: Cascade Yarns Sateen Solids White 6 Colorway & Berroco Vintage Chunky 6101 Cream Colorway

Kasey’s Slippers

Many of you know Kasey is all about the footwear, her sock collection is enviable. However she HATES shoes, and will practically kick them across the room (usually nailing Kait or myself). A few Christmas’ ago I knit her a few slippers and wouldn’t ya know she kept them on. So because Kasey has to be stylin’ I created her some custom footwear to adorn her feet on the wedding day. Mama Sampson even made her a matching bow.

Pattern: Soxie’s by Amanda’s Ravelry Shop ($4.00)

Yarn: Berroco Pima 100 8463 Colorway

Buttons: TheBrightShop at Etsy ($8.00 for 5pc)

Rainbow Socks

Recently I have begun listening to podcasts and heard about a company in called Infinite Twist that has made this adorable sock pattern and hand dyed rainbow yarn. When I saw the pattern I had to make them for the wedding and as a bonus $5 from every kit goes to Lambda Legal Defense which is a nonprofit to achieve civil rights for LGBT (P.S. they also have Love Still Wins Mittens).

The moral of the story is never underestimate my ability to find a excuse to knit!
